Ethernet Switch Unit

The ESU provides 8 transient protected Ethernet ports to communicate with local and remote IP modules

Distributed Architecture

All FC-250 modules operate independently. There is no central operating system, no central point of failure. Processing power is distributed throughout the campus, increasing system survivability, eliminating home-run wiring costs while decreasing downtime due to system maintenance.

Highly Survivable

Since NAC’s and SLC’s are grouped on the same module and events are processed locally, ALM modules will perform local operations even if network communication has been severed. Distributed modules also minimize campus-wide downtime by restricting maintenance to the local module.

The ESU3-IP is a cost-effective unmanaged Ethernet switch available in an  8 port configuration.

Each port on an ESU3-IP switch supports 10/100 Mbps Ethernet communication and provides transient protection for the attached  Ethernet circuit. The ESU3-IP can distinguish between standard and crossover cabling and automatically make necessary communication adjustments.

  • ESU3
  • 8 transient protected Ethernet ports, unmanaged
  • Listed for UL 864/10th edition
  • May be packaged in FC-250 or AC-100 cabinetry along with system modules
  • Module capacity: no limit

The contractor shall furnish and install, where indicated on the plans, ESU3-IP unmanaged switches and/or ES-100 copper/fiber-optic switches to provide for internal or remote connection of distributed IP based system modules. The ESU3-IP unmanaged switch and ES100 fiber-optic switch must be UL/ULC listed and UL/ULC listed as compatible with Harding network fire controls. The copper and fiber-optic switches shall be Harding part numbers ESU3-IP and ES-100.
